Design and development of a UK Capacity Mechanism

September 2011 - December 2011

Funding entity DECC

One of the DECC's Structural Reform Priorities is to deliver secure energy on the way to a low carbon energy future. With this aim, the energy market aims to ensure that the UK has a diverse, safe, secure and affordable energy system and to incentivise low carbon investment and deployment.
The objective of this project was to provide expert advice and input on and critically evaluate discussion, policy and analytical papers during the policy development phase of the UK Capacity Mechanism. The objective was also to provide input in resolving difficult design questions that arise following the consultation on the type of Capacity Mechanism needed.
